Back in 2010 designer Felix Sockwell spotted a series of flaws in Brazil 2014 World Cup logo and decided to take on the challenge to improve it. The image above is the result of that effort, and I must say it’s a much better version while still preserves the same essential ideas of the original logo.
Here’s what Sockwell had to say about it:
“There are so many things wrong with this logo, but I will agree that its premise, or idea, was OK. Let me take a few minutes to tell you whats wrong with this mark and what I would do to quickly amend it.”
Check out the original above, which unfortunately will be the one presented in Brazil 2014 World Cup. Can you see the “face palm” effect in it? I think the opening of the spaces in between the finger and the better management of colors have helped to eliminate the effect on Sockwell’s version.
What do you think? Do you see an improvement here?
